Planning applications “should” be dealt with in 8 weeks. Ours took 18 (24 if you count the pre-application consultations). So what were they doing for all that time - precious little. Our application was not opposed by anyone and was, finally, dealt with under delegated powers, so they could not use the excuse of “waiting for committee approval”. Quite frankly the whole department is inefficient, ineffective, contradictory and appear to have little grasp of reality.

We approached several kitchen manufacturers / suppliers to design and price our new, not unsubstantial kitchen but only two bothered responding. It seems that unless you are in a position to order immediately they just don’t want to know.

So, black marks for Greater London Kitchens, Kitchens Direct, Chapplesons and various suppliers of Schmidt Kitchens.

Out of five companies that were asked to quote only one has come up with a price and that took them 4 weeks.  7 weeks later we are still waiting for quotations from Sunfold Systems, Fairoak Timber Products, Andersen Windows and Lamwood Ltd.

Ronny Monk

Ronny Monk supplied the metal fixers and shuttering chippies for the foundation raft.  They didn’t turn up when scheduled, several times (blaming others of course) and there was no continuity during the job. They also left the site an absolute mess with metal and wire all over the place. The raft was okay though if a little too big (better that than too small I suppose) 2 out of 10.
